We do not offer athletics at our school, however, as a magnet school student, you are allowed to play a sport at your home school.

Please contact the Athletic Director directly from the school you would like to play a sport at and they will be able to provide you with information on tryouts, insurance, and physicals.
Senate Bill 538 – Extracurricular Activities
Senate Bill 538 authorizes public schools to assess activity fees under specified conditions. If you are a non-traditional student (Attending a private school or a PEP student) participating in sports at Varela, you will be charged a $400 activity fee per sport.
If you are playing a sport at a school that is not your homeschool, you must also complete the EL-14 form and have it approved at the South Region. 18180 SW 122 Ave., Miami, FL. 33177 (Please note that the school must be under 90% capacity for the EL-14 to be approved)

- Survey
- Game schedule
- Complete the Transfer memo form (Must open through Adobe to type and sign the document to then attach it)
- Complete the EL-14 form (ONLY IF YOU ARE PLAYING AT A SCHOOL THAT IS NOT YOUR HOME SCHOOL…MUST BE APPROVED BY THE REGION) This form must also be scanned and turned in.
